You’ll Love This Easy Valentine’s Day Conversation Heart Garland

With some adorable felt hearts, fabric paint, and twine, you can make the cutest Valentine’s Day garland for only $10!

Love is in the air! Valentine’s Day, in my opinion, is one of the best holidays to decorate for. I just love all of the feminine and frilly decorations! I enjoy filling the house with sweet, little decor items, including red and pink hearts galore, fit for the season of love to add some Hearts Day sparkle. But one thing I was missing was a cute Valentine’s Day garland!

I wanted to create a festive heart garland to decorate the mantle and this one was extremely easy to make! Using felt hearts from Dollar Tree, some Tulip Color fabric paint, and some pink twine, I was able to make an adorable conversation heart-themed garland for super cheap. And it looks absolutely darling on my fireplace mantle!

Read on below to learn how to easily make your own Conversation Heart Garland!

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • Felt Hearts (I got mine from Dollar Tree, but you could easily make your own!)
  • Fabric paint (I used Tulip Slick Dimensional Fabric Paint in Deep Red, Neon Pink, and White)
  • Twine

Here’s How to Make Your Conversation Heart Garland:

For the garland, I used 12 hearts in total: 3 pink, 3 red, and 3 white. These were the color that I purchased from Dollar Tree, but you could always make your own out of felt (or even paper doilies!). For the felt hearts, I chose to use white fabric paint for the pink hearts, pink for the red hearts, and red for the white ones. Pick whatever colors you’d like to make it your own and have fun with it!

I came up with 12 different conversation heart-inspired phrases to paint on each heart, but you can come up with whatever phrases you’d like. Here are the ones I used to give you some ideas: Cutie Pie, True Love, Love U, Hug Me, Kiss Me, XOXO, U R Sweet, Be Mine, Love Bug, Sweetheart, U Rock, and Adore U.

Using the fabric paint, I painted on the each of the 12 phrases on different felt hearts. The small skirt nozzle on the dimensional fabric paint bottles made it easy to write out the phrases. You could also paint them on with a thin brush with some traditional fabric paint. Use whatever is easiest for and available to you!

Once you’ve painted on all of your phrases, let the felt hearts dry for a few hours or at least until the paint is thoroughly dry.

At the point, take the twine and string it through each of the hearts. I slid the twine into one of the cutouts on left slide of the heart and out through a cutout on the right side so the twine would go behind the heart instead of in front of it.

I tied off the ends of the twine, making a small loop so I could hand it up on the mantle.

And there you go! How easy was that?!

Isn’t it so cute on the mantle? I absolutely love it and think it adds the perfect touch for Valentine’s Day!
